Don’t Miss the St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington, D.C.

March 11, 2020

The St. Patrick’s Parade of Washington, D.C. is the perfect way to celebrate Irish culture and heritage in a family-friendly, fun environment. The event is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and is a tradition everyone living in D.C. needs to experience at least once.

Known as the nation’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, the 2020 event will take place on March 15 and will feature marching bands, Irish dancers, colorful and vibrant floats, police and fire departments, and pipe bands. The parade begins at 12:30 p.m. and will wrap up about 3 p.m. The parade will march down Constitution Avenue between 7th Street NW and 17th Street NW. If you want to be sure to catch performances by the bands, get a spot by the grandstand at 15th and 16th Streets.

Every year, the parade helps kick off the spring season. Months of planning go into the event and the organizers pride themselves on creating a well-orchestrated, family event that’s open to everyone — we’re all Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, of course! You can get to the parade easily from the Federal Triangle, Archives-Navy Memorial, and the Smithsonian metro stations.
