Craving Puerto Rican Fare at The Lockwood? Head to La Famosa!

November 23, 2020

If you love Latin American food, La Famosa is going to be a new favorite. This recent addition to the Navy Yard offers elevated Puerto Rican cuisine for both breakfast and dinner.

If you’re heading over for breakfast, the pastelillo de guayaba is perfect for people with a sweet tooth, offering layers of buttery, flaky pastry stuffed full of sweet guava jam. If you have more of a savory craving, the mañanero is a delicious option with egg, cheese, and ham on a pan de agua, which is essentially the Puerto Rican version of Italian bread. Make sure you pair your breakfast with a mango batido, which is mango blended with milk, sugar, and ice. If you’re stopping by for lunch or dinner, the options get a little more plentiful. You’ll have to visit until you work your way through the whole menu. Favorites are the traditional mofongo stuffed with shrimp, and the chillo frito which is a traditional whole snapper served with coconut rice and spicy slaw. Make sure to order a tropical cocktail to complete your dining experience!

La Famosa is open from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., so plan your visit accordingly.
